THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL CREDIBILITY

Social credibility is important for online communities.  Social credibility is having your viewers, followers, or customers accept, trust and believe in you or your business (Merriam-Webster Inc 2018).  It is vital to have social credibility to nurture your audience’s relationships and support (Brianoconn 2016).   If your business is perceived positively by your audience, what you have to say or what you are selling will be more easily accepted (Wikipedia 2018).  If you develop a strong brand through channels to improve your social credibility, you will have a competitive advantage (Millennium Agency 2018).

Social credibility can be achieved through the use of social media and other media channels (Brianoconn 2016).  Having an online or digital presence shows that your business is not behind the times and allows your audience to find out more about your business (Fuell 2014).  With social media, you have a large impact on how you are perceived.  Due to this fact, it is important to keep all your digital media presence up to date and build trust (Fuell 2014).  Share information with your audience, encourage interaction and ensure timely feedback when that interaction occurs (Brianoconn 2016).  You have the power to turn negative comments into a positive by showing compassion, understanding and offering resolutions (Moore, P n.d.).  You must be honest with your audience, if you say you are going to do something, then do it! False or misleading statements will damage your credibility and may strongly impact your business (Moore, P n.d.).  Strong social credibility will lead to customer recognition, a competitive advantage, acceptance of new products or services, loyal customers and the increase of sales (Millennium Agency 2018).  If your business is socially credible you should see increase in revenue from sales.  You should also see loyal customers returning and even sharing their love of your product or service with others (Millennium Agency 2018).  The final line, social credibility is good for business.
